Bring your file with you to every session – there will be lots of handouts and notes. So, get
organised and file them there and then to make your revision a whole lot easier!
Try to brush up on terminology mentioned before the session if you can. The Key
references in brown will be referred to in the sessions and could also be researched
outside of the classroom.
It is expected that you will spend a minimum of 3 hours working on your investigations,
reading around Language Development topics and completing independent study
outside of the classroom each week.

Keep looking on the web and in the papers for interesting developments in the language
change debate! Continue to gather ideas in a data scrapbook. A range ideas and
arguments in your understanding of linguistic change will sustain your ability to deal with
the examination.
I’d strongly recommend that you try to get a copy of this book from
Amazon too!
