Financing at UI
The New Student Admission System for the Regular Undergraduate Programme for this year is held through the ‘Achievement Programme and Equal Distribution of Learning Opportunity Programme’ (Program Prestasi dan Pemeratan Kesempatan Belajar, PPKB), the National Selection Track which is also known as the ‘National Selection for State University Admission’ (Seleksi Nasional Masuk Perguruan Tinggi Negeri, SNMPTN) and UI’s Selection Track which is held in cooperation with the Nusantara Selection Committee for New Student Admission (Panitia Seleksi Penerimaan Mahasiswa Baru Nusantara, PSPMB Nusantara) which is also known as the ‘Simultaneous Admission Test’ (Ujian Masuk Bersama, UMB). The education cost for any student admitted through the PPKB, SNMPTN and UMB will be equal and determined by considering the ability of the bearer of the cost. The amount of the ‘Education Operational Cost’ (Biaya Operasional Pendidikan, BOP) per semester ranged from Rp 100 thousand to Rp 5 millions (for Social Sciences and Humaniora group) and between Rp 100 thousand to Rp 7.5 millions (for Health and Science and Technology group). Other than that UI also provides scholarship to the amount of Rp 20 billions per year known as ‘A Thousand Youth of the Nation Scholarship’ (Beasiswa Seribu Anak Bangsa) and other scholarship schemes for students admitted through PPKB, SNMPTN and UMB. Further information regarding the three tracks mentioned above are as follows: The first track, the ‘Achievement Programme and Equal Distribution of Learning Opportunity Programme’ (PPKB) is intended to widen the opportunity for deserving students to study in a university, wherein UI sends invitation to senior high schools’ students with high achievement throughout Indonesia to study in UI. Next the second track is the ‘Simultaneous Admission Test’ (UMB), it is the Admission Test which is held by UI in cooperation with the Association of SPMB Nusantara. The total number of students admitted through this track is around 3318 students or about 80% of the total capacity of the 2008 Regular Undergraduate Programme. To go through this track a prospective student must first pay the registration fee at any Bank BNI branch throughout Indonesia from 19th to 30th May 2008. Local registration for the Jakarta area will be held on 26th to 30th May 2008 at the Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) Campus at Jalan Rawamangun Muka Timur. Registration in Jakarta is conducted in 2 ways, collective registration through schools or individual registration. In the collective registration, students will register in their own schools which then will be forwarded by the schools to the Sub District for the http://www.ui.edu High School and Vocational School National Exams (Sub Rayon Ujian Nasional SMA dan SMK) in Jakarta or through the Local Jakarta Committee for PSPMB‐UMB Secretariat at Jalan Salemba Raya 4 Central Jakarta, telephone number 31930339. The form cost Rp 175 thousand for the Natural Sciences/ Social Sciences (IPA/IPS) Programme and Rp 200 thousand for Mixed Programme (IPC). Other region registration will commence on 27th May 2008 to 4th June 2008 spread over several locations such as: Medan (USU’s Campus), Padang (UNP’s Campus), Yogyakarta (Widya Mataram’s Campus), Surabaya (Amarta Building‐Kopertis Area VII, Jalan Kertajaya Indah Timur No.55) and Makassar (UNHAS’s Campus). The selection test will be held on 7th to 8th June 2008 in Medan, Padang, Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Makassar and other locations which will be determined later. The test material will cover the quantitative knowledge and languages (Basic Mathematics, Bahasa Indonesia, and English), Natural Sciences knowledge (Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Integrated Natural Sciences) for those choosing the IPA Programme, Social Sciences knowledge for those choosing the IPS Programme (History, Geography, Economics, and Integrated Social Sciences). Prospective students who choose the IPC Programme must take all the tests. The test result will be announced on 21st June 2008. The third track, a prospective student may elect to take the National Admission Selection for State University (SNM‐PTN). SNM‐PTN is the national selection test held by a committee under the coordination of the Directorate General of Higher Education Department of National Education (Dirjen Dikti DepDikNas). About 20% of new students admitted in UI will come through this track. Registration for SNM‐PTN will commence on 16th to 26th June 2008 and the SNM‐PTN test will be held on 2nd to 3rd July 2008 (humas‐ui/19th May 2008). http://www.ui.edu
