Are the impacts of rural-urban migration,
urbanization and globalization positive, negative
or balanced on the city of Jakarta and the people
who live there ?
The city of Jakarta has been growing vastly and one
of the main contributors to that is the fact that many
of the world's globalized products has reached Jakarta
and that makes the city more modern. But then that
causes some side effects such as how to give shelter
and support the bigger population, it has been a big
challenge for the government to give the population
some shelter. There is also the problem of trying to
control the amount of people migrating to Jakarta
from rural areas, although it provides more cheap
workforce, it makes the need of providing shelter
resources, food, shelter, etc. There are a lot of
advantages and disadvantages on urbanization,
rural-urban migration, and globalization, such as
more available Workforce,Safety,and Overpopulation.
In MEDC nations, companies need a lot of workforce
to produce their products so cheap labor from other
countries is important to MEDC nations. In MEDC
nations, some migrants also opt to work in offices to
help give the company more workforce. For Jakarta,
most migrants are from rural areas in Java and the
other Indonesian islands, in those islands, there are
little jobs available so they migrated to cities like
Jakarta so they can get a job and sometimes when
they go home back to their village for a while, they
would give some of the money to their family.
Migrants can also come to places because in their
origins, there are problems such as war, criminality,
Corrupt government or even diseases. In places such
as the Middle East, or in Africa, wars break out more
than any other place in the world and that forces
civilians to take refuge in other countries so they can
be much safer. Some people from North Korea escape
to other countries so they could be free from the
North Korean Government. In Indonesia, some places
in the Islands have little security because of it's
isolation from society, so then people move to big
cities in Indonesia for safety.
Last, there are also some disadvantages to this such
as overpopulation of cities because of the amount of
migrants living in the city, and the locals of the nation
itself. In cities like Jakarta there are not many
migrants from other countries but then many
migrants from rural areas come to Jakarta for various
reasons, and it is difficult to control the amount of
people getting to Jakarta because there isn't much
jobs available in other places.
So, In Conclusion, for me the effects of migration on
Jakarta Was Balanced because there are Advantages
and Disadvantages to Migration of people into
Jakarta and most of the issues comes from the people
that move to Jakarta from rural areas.
