ConnectNow Church Accounting Suite, August 2010 This release includes enhancements and changes to all modules in the ConnectNow Church Accounting suite. In This Document The ConnectNow™ Church Accounting Suite, including the Ledger and Payables and Payroll modules, has been updated effective August 8, 2010. The enhancements in this release are listed in this document. General Enhancements Church Manager Ledger & Payables Payroll Consolidation Manager General Enhancements We made the following terminology changes throughout the ConnectNow Accounting application: The term “sequence” was replaced with the term “sub-account”. The term “dimension” was replaced with the term “levels”. ConnectNow Church Accounting, August 2010 Release Notes 1 Permissions We added two new buttons on the Permissions screen: Select All and Deselect All. These buttons enable a user to select all or none of the security setting options with a single click of the mouse. You can no longer edit cleared transactions (under Bills, Journal Entries, and Checks). The Project list on the transaction entry screens in this module includes only those projects added from the Setup screen. You cannot type a project name directly into this box. To add a project to the list box, do the following: 1. Select Setup > Projects. In the Description field, type the name of your project. For example: ConnectNow Church Accounting, August 2010 Release Notes 2 2. Click . The project name you entered now appears in the Project list on every transaction entry screen in this module. For example, if you display the Bill Information or the Journal Entry Information screen and click the arrow in the Project list, you will see your project listed: We changed the label on the Copy button to Add Sub-Account. Bills Deleted Accounts Payable (AP) accounts are no longer listed in the AP Account list on the Bill Information screen. The Bill Search screen now lists the status of each listed bill in the Unpaid column. The following conventions are used: Unpaid: the bill is outstanding. Partial: a partial payment was made. Blank (no entry in the column): the bill was paid in full. Void: the bill was voided. ConnectNow Church Accounting, August 2010 Release Notes 3 Checks We added the Payables List button at the bottom of the Create Checks screen: Click print them. to preview and verify the checks selected for printing before you We reversed the position of the top and bottom check stubs for the Stub-Check-Stub layout so that the stub you mail now fits neatly into a #9 mailing envelope. We corrected an issue for voided checks written to cover multiple bills. If you void a check created to pay multiple bills and you want to issue a new check to pay those bills, the program will now recreate all of the bills associated with the voided check if you specify “yes”. We fixed a check layout issue so that now the check date field successfully lines up on checks created in QuickBooks. Journal Entries The Entry Number on the Journal Entry Information screen is automatically supplied by the application and cannot be edited. ConnectNow Church Accounting, August 2010 Release Notes 4 Setup We added a new setup screen that enables you to update, change, or assign cash flow categories to each existing account in your chart of accounts. 1. Select Setup > Assign Cash Flow Categories. The Account Cash Flow Categories screen is displayed. For example: This screen lists all of your cash flow accounts. 2. To assign a cash flow category, do one of the following for each account: a) Under Cash Flow Category, click and then select the appropriate option for the account type. OR b) Under Cash Flow Category, click . If the appropriate category is not listed, click and drag the mouse over the displayed option: Then, press DELETE. A list of options is displayed. Select the appropriate category. 3. Click to save your selections. ConnectNow Church Accounting, August 2010 Release Notes 5 Reports You can now choose to print the project name on the following Transactions reports: Bill List, Journal Entry List, and Deposit Register. To print the project name on any one of these reports, check the Print Project Name option in the Report Options section: We improved the Account Balance report so that it now sorts by date (Date), followed by transaction type (Type), and then transaction number (Num). The Bill List report now identifies any bills that have been voided. On the Statement of Financial Position report, we changed the terminology from “dedicated gift” to the more precise term, “dedicated account”. We fixed an issue that caused an error in the Project report. This report can now handle a null value (the default) in the Project setup for Revenue Budget and Cost Budget. ConnectNow Church Accounting, August 2010 Release Notes 6 A Statement of Cash Flow report has now been added to the Ledger and Payables module. To configure this report, under Standard Reports select Statements > Statement of Cash Flow. The Configure Report screen is displayed: Before printing a Statement of Cash Flow, you need to assign a cash flow category to each account that exists in the chart of accounts. Then, when you create the report, you can see subtotals for each category you assigned. See Setup for instructions on assigning a cash flow category to each of your accounts. Payroll Process The payroll calculation process (Step 4 Calculate) now flags a missing account distribution error on a new deduction or benefit. Reports On the Employee > Tax Status report, we corrected an issue that caused the employee’s social security number to print incorrectly. Accounts Dioceses now have the ability to add new accounts into the full chart of accounts.
