means for packaging, biodegradable or

about the conference
We're all aware of the need to be greener, more sustainable and more
environmentally responsible and this year, this topic's been on consumer's lips
more than ever before. The packaging, and particularly plastics, industry has
always had bad press for it's role in environmental polution so we have to work
even harder to both create functional attractive products that don't harm our
planet, and also rebuild our reputation.
There are a wealth of technologies available to plastic packagers to help them
solve this difficult problem but implementation difficulties, costs and logistics
have always been a barrier. However, with the volume of the world bio plastics
market set to grow by 22% (to 11961 tonnes) by 2011*, the potential rewards
for those who can overcome the hurdles are huge.
Building on the success of the 2007 event, IntertechPira’s Biodegradable
Plastic Packaging conference will this year present how and what
‘biodegradable’ means to real packaging sustainability. Global experts will
assess the markets and opportunities for bioplastics, determine the end of life
mechanisms available for packaging whilst leading brands communicate the
future for packaging, as they see it.
In addition to all this – an array of market leading names in biodegradable
packaging will be presenting the most recent developments in materials and
how to incorporate biodegradable materials into a wider strategy for pack
minimisation. If you’re involved in the packaging industry, either as a buyer or
supplier, Biodegradable Plastic Packaging is an essential date for your 2008
diary! Achieving sustainability is complex, so don’t miss out on this opportunity to
address the simplest and best ways to achieve it.
