FIRST…BEFORE CREATING THE TEST!**

Test Generator --- Teacher uses to create tests, quizzes, or
worksheets. These can be printed for paper/pencil, used with the CPI Clicker
System, or “published” to the computer lab for students to complete.
Creating the Test
Create a title for your test and click OK.

want to pull questions from.

Geometry and Spatial
Sense. Within this ‘bank’,
there are 44 questions.
Click Next to choose
questions…
3. Now you’re ready to
select questions for your
‘test’.
To get questions geared to
a specific concept, choose
questions based upon
learning objectives.
Click on the ‘I’, highlight
your objective, and click
ok.
Here, you tell it how many questions you want to use from
that objective and then click ‘select’. Continue this process
until you have all the objectives and questions you want.

Once your ‘test’ is created, if you find a question you really like or one that’s hard and students need
more practice, you can easily create more of the same question with different answers…
If it has a gray box (calculator) next to it.
First, highlight the test
question you want
more of by clicking on
it.
Next, click on ‘question’ at the top of the screen and
select ‘duplicate. Repeat this as many times as you wish.
Highlight your duplicated test question and click on the
calculator button at the top to “recalculate” the problem.
Now you’ve got another question just like the
first using different variables.

Changing the Layout of the Test
Any test questions with a red dot beside them mean you can change the question from multiple choice
to short answer and vice versa.
To do this, highlight the test question you want to change and then click on the “toggle switch” on the
toolbar at the top.
The exact same question is now short
answer instead of multiple choice.
You can keep all the multiple choice together and short answer together or mix them up with the
‘scramble’ feature.

You can also make the layout of the test look like that of the OGT or
standardized test by choosing ‘Style Gallery’ from the top toolbar under ‘Test’.

If you choose ‘Test’ and then ‘Layout’, you can change the font, size, spacing between questions, and
all the information you’d like to show on the answer key.

Adding more questions
At this point, it’s still not too late to add more questions! If you choose to add more questions but
aren’t worried about the specific learning objective, you could select questions randomly. Of course,
you can still select any of the other methods of question selection too.

Too Many Choices!
If you like multiple choice, but need fewer choices in order to differentiate instruction…That’s
possible too!
Just click on ‘Question’ at the top menu bar and select ‘adjust
choices/columns’. This will allow you to offer fewer choices for
those who struggle or more choices for those needing more of a
challenge.
My Test is Ready… Time to “PRINT”
3 choices: 1- print a paper copy to hand out to students
2 – use the CPS clicker system to administer to the whole class (review or test)
3 – publish to the computer lab so students sit at a computer to take the test and have it
graded for you

Use CPS Clicker System
Export to save it as an XML document.
You can then open it with the CPS
clicker system to project the test for all
the students to take part in.
Publish the Test to the Computer Lab
Once you click on this, it will walk you step by step to publishing.
Name it and publish it.

Allow access to anyone so that we may share across the
district.
Keep the password simple…students need it (abc)
Scramble the order so all students get the
same questions, just mixed up to prevent
cheating. (Johnny’s #1 is not the same question
as Sally’s #1)
More room for differentiation…
Choose whether or not to allow students to
check work and how much.
When students are finished with the test, what
do you want them to see? Just their score?

Publishing is complete.
Test Manager – Teacher tool to track classes and individual
students taking ‘published’ tests. Records tests taken & scores received.
Students must be ‘entered in’ before taking a published test.
First time users, click on ‘start a new class’. When returning, ‘open and existing class’.

Here’s your starting page.
Click on the person icon to
begin entering students into

Enter a first and last name and
student ID for each student.
The ID should match a CPS
clicker # to avoid confusion
later.
Test Player – This is the student portion. Students click on the
person icon to log in to take tests/quizzes.
To begin a test,
students must first
sign in using their

will be participating in… Name
them simple names and you may
want to post the test name as well.

After ending, depending on your
choices when publishing,
students will see a “report” of
how they did.
