Baskin-Robbins is the world’s largest chain
of ice cream speciality stores. Since 1945, we
have introduced over 1,000 unique, fun and
much-loved ice cream recipes and frozen
drinks including our famous
ice-cream cakes.
Our stores continue to be popular as our products are an
affordable treat for families and we sell in excess of 300
million scoops of ice cream each week across 6,700 stores
in 50 countries. Our mission is to make the Baskin-Robbins
neighbourhood store a tasty, fun place for our customers.
Baskin-Robbins already has 100 stores in the UK and
is now offering investors with a minimum of £60k liquid
capital to join our network of successful franchisees. A
single store franchise costs a minimum of £120k to
launch and high-street banks will usually fund 50% of this
cost. A typical area containing 5 stores has the potential
to turnover £1million in the first full year of trading with
EBITDA of 10-15%.†
The inspiration for opening a Baskin-Robbins stems from
my childhood memories of enjoying this premium range of ice
cream. Our store has been open for just over two months now and
seeing it all come together during the grand opening really was the
experience of a lifetime.

Baskin-Robbins has a very supportive nature as part of their culture.
The UK General Manager, the Marketing Manager and the Account
Manager are all very approachable and are all willing to offer any support
or help when needed. There is also a whole network of support available
through the Customer Relations Supervisor should you need it.
Like with all new businesses, there has been a great deal of hard work
involved. However, I am looking forward to seeing the business grow and
develop in the future and seeing the rewards of the hard work.

We as a family have always liked Baskin-Robbins products so much that
we decided to have a store of our own. The ambience of a clean, fragrant
and pleasant business environment was also a main driver in reaching this
decision. I am happy to say that the organised and helpful approach of
the Baskin-Robbins support team towards us, the franchisee, has further
cemented our original decision and that’s why we are looking to open
another store soon; within three to four months of opening our first one.

Baskin-Robbins has over 10 franchise-owned stores in the UK plus concessions including
shopping centres and cinemas serving our huge range of ice cream, frozen beverages,
unique ice cream cakes and other complementary beverages and treats. Investors
naturally expect our products to be in greatest demand over the summer months but
we actually find our products are popular all year round. For example, our ice cream
cakes are chosen as alternative Christmas desserts and sales also peak
in December.

I was involved for 13 years in the
Baskin-Robbins brand’s successful
expansion in Saudi Arabia. When
I joined Baskin-Robbins in 1993 in
Saudi Arabia there were only 52
stores and today there are over 300!
The Baskin-Robbins ice cream
parlour concept is fun and unique, I
love the fact that there are 31 different
flavours of ice cream, including fat
free, sugar free and yogurt varieties
available, so there is something for
everyone - even those on a diet!
Everyone loves our ice cream cakes - we sell on average in a day 3-4 ice cream cakes
in our store and this keeps us busy even during winter. The potential market is huge especially if the location is right, then new store success will follow you. The Dunkin’ Brands
team for the UK are always offering support and training to ensure that we continue to grow
and that our customer service is great.

We offer both a single store franchise opportunity and a multi-store investment portfolio.
You will need a minimum of £60k liquid capital for a single store franchise with high street
banks usually funding the remaining £60k for the minimum total investment of £120k. Our
multi-store investors investors require at least £150k liquid capital and available funding of
another £350k to complete the roll out and operation of 5 stores. In turn, we have developed
an all-encompassing growth strategy and support package to make this happen as smoothly
and cost effectively as possible.

I have always loved the brand and the products and have taken my children to
Baskin-Robbins for a treat of ice cream and shakes for a long time. On meeting with
Baskin-Robbins representatives here in the UK, I found they were open and honest
regarding the business model and my vision as a franchisee. They reassured me
that they would be with me every step of the way and thereafter, which has
definitely been the case. I went on to open my first store in May 2011 and
I’m now concentrating on opening my third Baskin-Robbins unit.
