Bedell, professor of English and editor of Louisiana Literature and director of Louisiana Literature Press. His most recent books are Call and Response, Come Rain, Come Shine, and French Connections: A Gathering of Franco-American Poets. Tim Gautreaux, Writer-in-Residence in the English Department, ranks among the nation's most honored fiction writers. His achievements include two collections of stories (Same Place, Same Things, and Welding with Children) and three novels (The Next Step in the Dance, The Clearing, The Missing). Norman German, professor of English, will read from A Savage Wisdom. A specialist in twentieth-century American literature, he has also published award-winning short stories, novels, poems, and literary criticism. His stories have appeared in commercial and literary magazines, including Shenandoah, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Sport Fishing, and Salt Water Sportsman. Richard Louth, professor at Southeastern since 1978, is founding Director of the Southeastern Louisiana Writing Project. He has received both the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching and the University President's Award for Excellence in Teaching. His most recent publication is "Francesca," which was the 2010 Creative nonfiction winner in Country Roads Magazine annual writing contest. Bev Marshall, Writer-in-Residence in the English Department. She is the author of Walking Through Shadows, Right As Rain, and Hot Fudge Sundae Blues. Alison Pelegrin, English Department, is the recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Louisiana Division of the Arts. She is the author of two poetry collections, most recently Big Muddy River of Stars, as well as poems in numerous magazines and journals.
