Marriott Hotel Refurbishment, Islamabad
Hashoo Group, Pakistan
Islamabad, Pakistan
$5 million USD
2008 - 2009
A 3Sixty Consultant carried out Executive Project Management services, post contract award, on the refurbishment of the
Marriott Hotel in Islamabad. The Marriott Hotel was bombed in a terrorist attack on 20 September 2008.
A few months after its bombing, the Government of Pakistan had re-constructed 50 % of the hotel and the Islamabad
Marriott reopened on December 28, 2008. A 3Sixty Consultant was bought in by the Hashoo Group to facilitate the refurbishment of the other half of the hotel.
The refurbishment consisted of 120 rooms included a new presidential suite, banqueting suite, nail and hair salon. The project presented many challenges, with a particular emphasis on high security measures. This made the control of deliveries of great importance.
The project was fraught with complexities and prior to our consultant’s involvement the use of fire resistant materials was none existent therefore a full, quick redesign was implemented to ensure that the fire that followed the bomb blast would not happen again.
The project was fully opened in August 2009.
