Thank you to all the children at James
Brindley School who made a contribution
towards this magazine. The stories,
pictures and poems we received were
amazing!
The summer holidays have come to an
end, so here’s a little gift to continue
the summer fun.
It’s made by children of a similar age
to you. Have an enjoyable time reading
and completing the activities.
Continue to unleash your creativity and
make the most out of every single day.
Stay positive and keep smiling because
it’ll make others smile too.
Best wishes,
Project Jigsaw

This issue’s Comic Creations was all about a mysterious bottle washing up
on shore! We’ve had some of the most amazing and creative
responses and here are a few we’ve chosen to spotlight.
A mysterious bottle washes up
onto shore ...
Sally who lives there comes and
opens it and there was a picture
A big pirate found the bottle and
started to search for the treasure
6
It landed on the smallest island
in the world
Sally didn’t care and she
threw it back into the sea
The pirate finds the treasure!
“Yes!” said the Pirate.
And someone lives on that
island
It travelled and travelled
until it reached shore
But there was nothing in the
box!
Someone from the house
picks the bottle up and
looks inside.
Lizzy looks inside and
there is some fizz in it.
A mysterious bottle
washes up onto shore ....
He saw a ship so he gave
it to the people on it.
She shook the bottle and
bubbles came out.
The magic bubbles turn
her invisible.
A man found the bottle.
The man brought the
bottle inside.
Then they gave it to a
man they worked with.
He opened it hoping for
something good but just
found a piece of paper.
A mysterious bottle
washes up on shore ....
Suzy found the bottle
Suzy shook the bottle and
turned into a baby!
She climbs into the bottle Mum tried to get the baby So Mum shook the bottle
turned into a baby and got
and gets stuck
out of the bottle
stuck too!

1. At the hospital, I
sometimes get
scared when I see
the doctors and
nurses.
2. My parents work
and sometimes they
can’t stay with me
at the hospital.
3. How can I get to
know the other
children here?
8
1.Its perfectly normal to
feel a little scared but
doctors and nurses want
to help you get better
and make you as
comfortable as possible.
2. Tell your parents
how you feel. They
might be able to
talk at work and ask
to get some time
off.
3. It’s normal to feel shy.
Go to the play area and
try asking the children
their name. Or maybe you
find a toy you like and ask
if they want to join in.
It was raining on the day that I went to the fair, so I put on my
coat, but I couldn’t go on any of the rides. Because I couldn’t
go on any of the rides I went to have a burger, but there was no
burgers left, so I got chips and sausages. When I took my very
first bite I was very happy because I was hungry, but when I
took my second bite I felt something hard in it, so I didn’t eat it.
I opened up the sausage and inside was a purple stone! I went
and told the person who served me, but they didn’t do anything
about it. They looked scared and told me to go home quickly.
So I told my parents and they said we will go back tomorrow to
see if the same thing happened and it did. So I just said it was
my unlucky day.

You should
try writing a
story...Maybe about
princesses, pirates
adventures ... Or even
about crazy day
out!
Alfie came on my ship. He wanted to
destroy my ship. He jumped onto my
ship. Then we had a sword fight together.
Then we became friends. Then Alfie and
I played on the ship. We had a fun day!

You will need: a square piece of paper
(you may need an adult to help with this)
1. Fold you square piece of paper in half
diagonally so you have a triangle.
2. Then, once you have a triangle, fold it in
half again.
3. Now you are going to fold in the top two
edges downwards to touch the bottom of
the triangle.
4. Fold this in to create two ears, then fold
from the point at the bottom.
5. Now your little animal has a nose. This could be
any animal you want. A little dog or even a rabbit!

2. Fold the two edges of
the triangle upwards
to make a square

finished. You could
use coloured paper
to make it look really
life-like!
2
3. Flip the square over
and fold in half
3
4. Rotate the triangle
5. Open the left edge
by folding the top

the middle layer
