The September gallery show will be a commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the Lakeville Library. The Gallery Committee is looking for donations of photographs from YOU, our patrons. The photos can be anything from a favorite event or program or a beautiful shot of the facility. All submissions need to be received by Wednesday, August 19. Any physical photos must have a name, contact information and date taken on the back. Full-resolution digital photos, dated with the contact information contained in the email, can be sent to greatpondsgallery@hotmail.com. Join us as we celebrate another summer of reading! Participants will go through Superhero Training, make some superhero accessories, test their knowledge of hero trivia and enjoy a super snack or two! Scarlet Poppies: Pastel Paint Like Georgia O’Keeffe With award-winning artist Gregory John Maichack Monday, August 31st 5:30-7:30 Monday, August 17th at 6:00 pm Carol Tavares, a local TM teacher will be joining us to introduce us to this meditation technique. Participants will learn how the Transcendental Meditation technique enhances mind, body, well-being, relationships and world harmony. We will also discuss how this ancient technique differs from other forms of meditation. If you love vibrant color and want to make it shimmer, this is the hands on workshop for you! Participants will gain an empowered appreciation of the pastel painting medium and get to take home their work of art. All supplies are provided and all levels of experience are welcome. This is a free participatory class for adults only. Space is limited to 30 adults. Pre-registration is required ONLY by calling the Main Desk after August 1st. This project is supported by a grant from the Lakeville Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. His subjects are focused in and around Cape Cod and Vermont. Keep your eye out this summer for Library Photographers getting ready for the Library 10th Anniversary display coming up in September! We raised $535 that will enable us to continue to provide activity funding both for children and adults and to purchase materials for the Library. Thank you to all of our volunteers, including the Lakeville Lions, who helped set up and break down the sale.
