Roberta thought a still life would be a suitable challenge for this non-beginner workshop.
Having painted a glass object in a previous workshop Roberta thought it was time for us to
use the reflective surfaces of glass and metals. Using shadows and glowing light to create a
dramatic contrast within the composition. Painting the characteristics of reflective surfaces
with every colour it mirrors, then adding the smallest of nuances to completely involve the
viewer. Finally by enhancing the vibrancy we created artwork that will be perceived as
photographically realistic.
Having taken hundreds of photographs of the same still life she had the most wonderful
photographs to choose from.
