Minnesota Fringe reports 50,330 tickets issued at 2015 festival
MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota Fringe released the final numbers from its 22nd annual festival Monday
morning. Over its 11-day run, the performance festival issued 50,330 tickets to 909 performances of
174 shows; compared to 2014’s 50,265 tickets to 878 performances of 169 shows. Top-10 lists and sellout shows are listed below.
Executive Director Jeff D. Larson commented, “In 2014 we wanted to set an all-time-high attendance
record, which we did. This year we wanted to increase artist payout while keeping our attendance
numbers high. While we’re still in the process of calculating ticket sales revenue, it looks like we’re
going to accomplish that.”
The festival pays 65%-70% of ticket revenue back to participating artists. In 2014 ticket revenue was
$380,880, with $258,7328 paid out directly to artists.
Larson added, “We end up using a lot of numbers when we talk about Fringe, but the thing I continue
to be most proud of is the art. This year our artists tackled important issues, tried new things, took risks
and put up incredible work. To have audiences turn up by the thousands to support that - it’s the most
amazing part of this festival.”
