Use the text as an opportunity to experiment with tone, range and physicality. Anything goes! Format: -We will start with a warm-up exercise or two, then you can split down into small groups and work through the pieces. Once you have done one, please feel free to join another partner or two and do a different piece. On the first time I see everyone, I will ask you to read the chorus speech. Other things to consider: -If you are auditioning for Oedipus, I would like you to have a go at piece 3, along with at least either piece 1 or 2. -If you are auditioning for Creon, please attempt both pieces Creon is involved in. Piece 2 takes place in Act one, where Creon is a sly and devious politician, whereas in Piece 6 he is a brutal military dictator. -If you are auditioning for Antigone, please attempt piece 6, and at least one from pieces 5 or 7. -If you see odd chorus lines in the above pieces (except the chorus speech), don't worry about them-I will read them in where appropriate. -If you are auditioning for a part not listed above, or are unsure what you would like to do, then read anything! If you do it well enough, and look right for something, I'll offer it to you.
