(3 marks) 1.5 • The boy wanted a type of shoes but he didn’t have the money so he decides to snatch a woman’s purse. When he snatched the woman’s purse, he didn’t succeed because the women was able to get a grab of him. He was scared, he didn’t know what was happening next. He thought the woman was going to bring him to the police station. 3. Who are the characters in the story Kath and Mouse? Explain the relationship between the characters. (2 marks) 2 • Kath: She’s the one that thinks she’s the queen of the school. She likes the feeling of seeing others suffer. • Kevin: He’s the one who tells the story. He’s the twin of Kath. He’s the person who is nice enough to sand up for Helen. He helped Helen for the talent night. He was concerned with what Kath was doing to Helen. • Helen: She’s new to the school. Kath always bullies her. Kath calls her “mouse”. She asks for help from Kevin for the talent night because Kevin knows how to play the piano, Kevin agrees and practices with her. She sings in the auditions and everything in her life changes. For example, Students stopped calling her mouse. 4. Explain the theme of the story Kath and Mouse? (2 marks) 2 • In the short story “Kath and Mouse” readers are taught to treat others the way they want to be treated because if you treat others in a way they don’t like, that person will end up treating you in a way that you won’t like. Readers are also taught to nicely approach problems because approaching a problem in a bad attitude will get you no where.
