Concluding paragraph does not summarize in detail the ideas discussed in the essay. The orchestra played very well overall. In particular, I feel they did a good job staying together, being careful of intonation, and with style. A major part of staying together is hitting all the major landmarks together. Even though they had some minor individual places where we sped up or slowed down, such as the very beginning of the Mozart, the orchestra always hit big thematic or melodic parts together. It wasn’t perfect, but it could have been much worse. Intonation is everything to music; if the notes are not in tune, all the rhythm and style in the world won’t help. The intonation both within sections and across the orchestra was superb. In particular, Reflection had a lot of good spots. Command of style is what separates great orchestras from the merely good ones. The ensemble did a good job with style in the Mozart, which they played light and Baroque-y, and Mantras, which called for an aggressive style. Through their togetherness, intonation, and style, the orchestra came together and had a successful concert.
