Net Trans was established in October 1999. Based in Norway, Net Trans is an outsourcing partner of financial services, offering industry solutions in the global market place. For the travel industry, Net Trans provides the leading commission handling service called Active Commission. The pilot started in January 2000 in cooperation with Berg Hansen, the Norwegian Carlson Wagonlit Travel associate. Active Commission™ came into full production in June 2000. Today Active Commission™ is used by vast number of Travel Agents and Travel Management groups around the world, including American Express, BTI, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and TQ3. Why Net Trans and Amadeus? Global customer satisfaction surveys amongst Amadeus customers have shown that many travel agents do not use a GDS for their hotel bookings as much as they could, since they do not feel confident that they will collect their commission. As a result, these travel agents fax, phone or e-mail the hotel directly. This means additional manual work for the travel agent and less hotel bookings for Amadeus. This is because all other commission collection systems (Pegasus, Perot Systems, NPC and WPS) use hotel data they receive from the hotels for commission payment to the travel agent and never check reservations records with the travel agent. What is in it for our travel agents? Only Net Trans uses data from travel agents to get commissions paid. Net Trans contacts the hotels directly on behalf of the travel agents to collect the commissions. The advantage for the travel agent is clear: Net Trans works for them to collect commissions so they do not have to spend time and resources on it… Net Trans is the only company in the world who does this! By offering Net Trans to Amadeus customers our company: builds travel agency trust increases travel agency loyalty grows revenues for our travel agency customers What is in it for Amadeus? An increase in hotel bookings. Net Trans will collect commissions for the travel agent through any booking method that the travel agent has used: Amadeus active, passive or manual bookings. AMADEUS HOTELS 28 MARCH 2005 PAGE Nº 2 Amadeus and Net Trans - Frequently Asked Questions The travel agent pays a small fee for every confirmed commissionable room night. However, if the booking was made as an active Amadeus segment the travel agent pays less than for other booking methods, only 1.2 € per room night. So, there is now a clear advantage for the travel agent to book through Amadeus: Pay less for a great service that helps to collect commissions while automating hotel bookings. This will help Amadeus to increase hotels bookings and revenues. Does Net Trans only collect commission on Amadeus active bookings? No. Besides the Amadeus bookings, Net Trans will work for travel agents to get their commissions for all types of Amadeus bookings. Is this service free to the travel agent? No. There is a small fee the travel agent will have to pay Net Trans for commissions successfully confirmed and paid by the hotel: Amadeus active booking: € 1.2 per room night Amadeus passive booking: € 1.5 per room night Amadeus manual booking: €1.9 per room night Copyright © Amadeus GTD GTD // All © 2004 2005 Amadeus All Rights Rights Reserved Reserved Amadeus Amadeus Confidential Confidential Information Information // Unauthorised Unauthorised use use and and disclosure disclosure strictly strictly forbidden forbidden Copyright The travel agent only pays when the commission is confirmed and paid by the hotel. Is a “no show” considered as a commissionable room night? No. Net Trans works on a “no cure, no fee” model. If there is no commission paid by the hotel provider for whatever reason, Net Trans charges no fee to the travel agent. In the case of a “no show” the provider would inform Net Trans that a “no show” had occurred and that no commission was due. This would be reflected in online reports and no commission or fee could be due. Does Net Trans work for all Amadeus travel agents? Yes. Wherever they are in the world or however small the Amadeus travel agent is, Net Trans will work for them. This is unique in the Net Trans/Amadeus offering. Normally Net Trans only works with agencies that have a hotel booking volume of €70,000 a year or more. For Amadeus travel agents Net Trans have made an exception: They work for all our travel agencies worldwide. Also, travel agents do not need an IATA or TIDS number to become a customer of Net Trans. Furthermore, an agent who doesn’t use any Back Office System can benefit from this service. AMADEUS HOTELS 28 MARCH 2005 PAGE Nº 3 Amadeus and Net Trans - Frequently Asked Questions Does Net Trans work with any other GDS? Yes, they work with all GDSs. However, Amadeus and Net Trans offer a unique solution since non-Amadeus agencies will have to have a hotel booking volume of at least €70,000 a year to benefit from the Net Trans service. With Amadeus, any travel agent can sign up… even the smallest one! Also, Amadeus is the only system directly connected to Net Trans. This means that any booking, amendment or cancellation can be seen by Net Trans only for Amadeus agents… the data accuracy for the Amadeus agent is better than with any other GDS, so better commission collection can be done. Are there any other commission systems? Yes. There are four other systems: Pegasus, Perot, WPS and NPC. These systems all work on behalf of the hotel companies. This means they pay commissions with the booking data that hotel companies give them and do not ask the travel agents for any information on bookings made. Net Trans is the only global system that works on behalf of the travel agent and uses travel agency data from Amadeus to pay commissions. This means that the travel agent can be sure that the bookings they have made will be processed by Net Trans for commission payment. Will Net Trans contact any hotel in the world to try and get commissions in any currency? Yes. Net Trans will automatically receive all the booking data from Amadeus and contact hotels worldwide to get the commission, regardless of the currency. Then, the payment is made to the agent in one of the 8 currencies supported by Net Trans: EUR, USD, GBP, NOK, SEK, DKK, AUD, and CHF. For the money collected in these currencies, no conversion fee should be applied to the travel agent by the bank. For the nonsupported currencies, the bank conversion charges will be paid by the travel agent. However, Net Trans is currently looking into supporting other currencies in the future. How does Net Trans consolidate hotel and clearing house payments? We look at 2 levels of consolidation. First, Net Trans will do a consolidated payment for all commission collected in a month. Secondly, Net Trans facilitates consolidation of hotel payments. Hotels will receive one statement for all our customers’ bookings. This way, the hotels can make one consolidated payment if they wish. This will reduce the cost of clearing AMADEUS HOTELS 28 MARCH 2005 PAGE Nº 4 Amadeus and Net Trans - Frequently Asked Questions checks for our customers and less work for the hotel. However, if a hotel has an agreement with a clearing house, they will probably process all payments through them. Could Net Trans defer the commission payments to agents on alternative methods than just monthly? Yes. The agent can choose how Net Trans will make the payments: By setting a total amount that then triggers the payment to the travel agent (amount driven approach) By having a quarterly payment schedule (time driven approach) What are the main sales arguments to sell this to an Amadeus travel agent?
