And, this time we will practice “Chunking” the terms together to make them easier to remember. Your TMD work will help you set up an outline for the essay. So, although it looks like much more work, you should find that when you set it up write, it works much more efficiently and makes your life easier. Egypt Content Test. At the end of this unit you will have a test on the following terms. To help make them easier to learn we group them together. Pharaohs and important People Menes Zoser Cheops/Khufu Amenemhet I Hatshepsut Thutmose III Amenhotep III/Akhenaton Tutankhamun Ramses II Other Government terms Vizier Gods Horus Re Osiris Isis Other Religious terms Mummification Book of the Dead Places and Geography Nile Delta Upper Egypt Lower Egypt The Egyptian Empire Time Periods Old Kingdom Middle Kingdom Hyksos New Kingdom Inventions and Art Papyrus Step Pyramid Great Pyramids of Giza Hieroglyphics Obelisks Sphinx Staple Crop Egypt Essay. By now we have seen how civilizations use their government, religion, technology and art to help them meet their challenges. But with Egypt, we can now start to see how they changed those things over time to improve on them. Egypt didn’t do the same thing in the New Kingdom as they did in the Old Kingdom because their challenges changed. So, your thesis question to answer in this unit is: How did Egypt change either their government and religion or their art and technology over the course of the Old, Middle, and New Kingdom to meet new challenges? Step One: The first step to answering this question is to determine if you want to tell the story of government and religion or art and technology. You do not have to do all of them. Both come with an advantage and disadvantage. Government and religion will give you a lot of information. There will be lots of notes to find. But, it will be easy to write and answer to because you have lots to work with. There is less info on Art and Technology – so you will have to look harder. Writing notes will be quicker, but writing the essay can be trickier because you have less to work with. Step Two: Now it is time to do your research. For this assignment you do not need to use any resource other than your Egypt Reading. It will give you as much as I need. Now here is the cool thing. If you organize your notes well from the beginning you will notice that the hardest part of your essay is already done. Instead of doing a TMD that asks you to write the details of every section, you can organize it by the main ideas of the paragraphs you will want to write in your essay. Use this outline to get the idea. Egypt Essay TMD Research Outline: Topic: Government and Religion Name or Art and Technology Main Idea: The Old Kingdom developed (topic) to meet the challenge of: _________________ Details: Main Idea: The Middle Kingdom developed (topic) to meet the challenge of: ___________ Details: Main Idea: The New Kingdom developed (topic) to meet the challenge of: _______________ Details:
