Teaching and Learning Overview – P7 Second Level - Term 3 Jan - April
Learning Context: Science – Space & Forces (2 separate studies)
Dates for the Diary: 25 Jan & 22 Feb – Netball & Football training at St Mary’s,
29 Feb – 11 Mar – Fairtrade Fortnight
Literacy and English: We will continue our reading analysis and ability to ‘PEE’ our responses through a
variety of activities including poetry, a film study and short textual analysis. Writing skills will be
developed through a focus on poetry, science investigation reports and responses to reading tasks. We
will prepare and deliver short presentations about space to develop our skills in talking to an audience.
Numeracy and Maths: We will continue to develop our knowledge of decimals, fractions and percentages
and will apply our knowledge of measurement, which includes length, capacity and weight during science
investigations. Numeracy and mental agility will continue to be a significant focus.
Health and Wellbeing: We will learn about drugs and alcohol awareness in line with SBC’s guidance. In PE
we will focus on developing skills through basketball, athletics, rugby (boys) and netball (girls).
Additionally, we will participate in training and games sessions with St Mary’s School (girls – netball, boys
– football).
Modern Languages: In French we will continue to develop our ability to communicate in spoken and
written form with additional reading tasks in preparation for high school.
Homework: A home project on Space, which will be introduced in school, will be given this term.
Encouraging your child to complete their homework tasks to a high standard and aiding them in
preparation for their short presentation will support them in their learning.
