Football News Year 5/6 Tournament The children have been very busy with their football this month. The Year 5/6 boys have played in a league at Toynbee for the last 4 weeks. There were some challenging games but we were really played with the boys’ persistence and determination. To see the overall scores for the team and placement in the league please go to: http://toynbee.hants.sch.uk/sgo/index.php (or there is a link on our webpage) Well done to all three teams! Players of the Tournament for each team were awarded to: - Aiden Cooper - Jacob Eades - Callum Edwards-Wilson Congratulations! Great Success with the Girls New Football Teams! I am delighted at the interest we have had in our girls’ teams this term. We put together two teams of 7 to play a friendly match against Cherbourg last Wednesday. Many of the girls were playing their first every games and they did extremely well and showed great determination, persistence, team work and skill. Both teams played 2 matches each and I am proud to say they won all 4 of the games! Between all the games I think they scored about 14 goals – most of them by Lilian and Julija. We are very proud of all the girls’ participation and hope this will be the start of a great season for them! Our players of the match were awarded to: Julija and Daisy. Free taster Session for new Lower School Football Club This week you should also have had a letter from the ‘My-Coaching’ Company inviting all children (boys and girls) in Years 1-4 to the new football club which is starting in the Spring Term. They are offering a free taster session for the first week and a discount if you book early for the first half term, so do take advantage of this offer. Diary Date: Next term we will be fundraising again for Sport Relief, which is on Friday 18th March 2015. Start getting your thinking caps on for Sporting Personality costumes – we had some terrific ones last time. We were also in the top 1500 schools in the country for the amount that we fundraised – so let’s see if we can be as successful again and have fun helping others in our nation and abroad.
