Format for “book report”: flip book
You need 4 pages of 8 ½ blank (white or colored) paper, lay them on top of each other, but stagger
them so that about a ¼ ” of each shows. Fold them short ways so that you are left with 6 tabs.
You must type out the following “tab” answers and then cut them out and paste/tape them to the
tab. I will take into consideration neatness and effort when grading these flip books!
Cover sheet: Decorate with title of novel and author’s name (inside cover—your name, block, and the
date)
Each tab needs to be labeled in order:
Tab One: Major characters and brief description (15 pts)
Tab Two: Minor characters and brief description (15 pts)
Tab Three: major theme of the novel (what was the author’s hidden message) support your opinion
with quotes from the novel, be sure to explain yourself. (15 pts)
Tab Four: Short summary of novel (15 pts)
Tab Five: Favorite quotes (at least 3 and explain who said them or what was their context) and why
you selected them. These quotes cannot be from the same page! (15 pts)
Tab Six: Your personal reaction to novel (characters, conflict, mood, style…)—reflect on what your
thoughts were as you read. What were your thoughts, emotions, reactions, why? Explain. Did you
relate to the novel or characters? Why or why not? Go into depth (explain and give examples)! (25
pts)
Spelling, grammar, and structure count!
