Scholarship Criteria
The scholarship award recipient shall be duly enrolled for the Spring 2012 semester and
in good academic standing at Eastern Illinois University. Applicants must have at least a
2.75 grade point average and have junior or senior standing. Recipient must be an
Eastern student at the time the check is issued.
The recipient must, in thought and deed, be a living example of the ideals and values
expressed by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Documentation such as essay or letter of
support (please attach to application) should be provided for recipient as to how their life
mirrors the ideals of Dr. King, e.g., service to one’s fellow humans, without reference to
gender, race or national origin and/or how their activities make the world around them a
better environment.
Name of scholarship recipient will be announced prior to Spring 2012 commencement.
The award shall be payable in Spring 2012.
