THE E.J. AND K.B. SWANSON BUSINESS AWARD Mr. Swanson desires that each year a deserving SHS student receive a business scholarship award. The recipient will be a distributive education or business education student. BUSINESS AWARD SELECTION COMMITTEE The selection committee of the final recipient will consist of a senior sponsor, a distributive education instructor, and a supervised office education instructor. The high school principal will act in an ex officio capacity to the selection committee. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS 1. The recipient must have attended Savannah R-III High School at least two years including the senior year. 2. The recipient must rank academically in the upper 50% of the graduating class. 3. The recipient must have an interest in vocational business, in business training, or in furthering their business education. He/she must have intentions of further business study in some business field at the trade school or college level. 4. The recipient must demonstrate promise, be innovative, and believe in the free enterprise system. 5. The recipient should have a financial need for the money in order to be able to attend the school. Thus, only young people from low to middle income families should apply. 6. If applicants are very close for an award, Mr. Swanson would like the last question on the student application form concerning the free enterprise system to be given extra weight when selecting the final recipient. 7. Application must be turned into the Counseling Center no later than ________________. PROVISION OF FUNDS The Scholarship fund is located at the United Missouri Bank in Savannah, Missouri. Upon direction from the school superintendent, drafts will be drawn in favor of the recipient and forwarded to the trade school, business school, college, or university of the recipient’s choice. The value of the annual scholarship is $250.00. Upon successful completion of the first semester of study, application can be made to Mr. Swanson for the same amount for the second semester. In the event a student does not attend the selected school, the allocated funds will be returned to the scholarship fund for future use. Acknowledgement of the scholarships will be made by Mr. Swanson at the annual Savannah High School Honors Night Award Program. THE E.J. SWANSON AND K.B.
