Here are the directions: Step 1: Select one of the classic novels listed below to read. Step 3: After reading your novel, you are going to be responsible to turn the “CLASSIC” story you read into a “MODERN”, “UP-DATED”, and “CURRENT” movie! There are two main components to this project. Step 4: (Writing Component) Before any movie can be produced, it is the screenwriter’s job to write a movie script. Since you are the screenwriter of your movie, you are responsible to compose an essay persuading a famous production company such as Warner Bros. to produce your movie script. You must write a 5-paragraph persuasive essay. Your essay should include: - Paragraph 1: Introduction - Explain that you are turning a classic novel into a modern movie. (Name the book and a title for your movie) - Discuss why you have decided to do this and why it is a good idea. - Include three reasons to convince the production company to produce your movie. - Paragraph 2: Reason one with supporting details - Paragraph 3: Reason two with supporting details - Paragraph 4: Reason three with supporting details - Paragraph 5: Conclusion Final plea to convince the production company that your movie will be the next big hit! Restate your three reasons Have a strong and memorable final sentence! Other topics you may want to discuss: (How your movie is similar and different from the book, the plot of your movie (main idea), the characters (famous actors/actresses), the setting (where would you film the movie), the age range your movie is geared toward, what makes it better than other movies, special effects (3D), movie soundtrack, why would parents want their children to see this movie) Step 5: (Illustration Component) Once you have completed your persuasive essay, design an advertisement promoting your movie. This should be an advertisement that could be placed in newspapers, magazines, inside movie theaters, or even on a television commercial. - Possible items to include on your poster: - Persuasive/descriptive words and phrases Title of your movie (based upon the classic novel) Pictures of the characters (actors/actresses) Illustrate the setting (background) Release date (coming soon to a theater near you) Movie rating (G, PG) Soundtrack or theme song by Written/directed by (your name) Take a look at actual movie posters/billboards for ideas! Try to be as creative as possible! Step 6: Your ESSAY and ADVERTISEMENT are due on THURSDAY, MARCH 21, 2013!!! This book report project will count as TWO WRITING TEST GRADES!!!
