Students must wear either professional street clothes covered by a white lab coat or plain colored scrubs. Uniform preference will be determined by the Clinical Instructor at each affiliate site and:
Fit properly, tied or buttoned
Must be clean and pressed at all times
Student Interns must adhere to the following guidelines for clinical internship:
Shirts with logos are not allowed.
Women’s shirt/blouse must completely cover abdomen and breasts/cleavage.
Men’s shirt must have collar.
Jeans are not allowed.
Stirrup pant, sweat pants and leggings are not allowed.
Pant shorter than ankle length are not allowed.
Low-riding pants are not allowed.
Skirts shorter than the top of the knee are not allowed.
Socks must be worn.
Shoes with open toes and/or open heels are not allowed.
High heeled shoes are not allowed.
Athletic shoes must be clean.
Hair longer than collar length must be tied back.
Non-traditional hairstyles and colors are not allowed.
Facial hair must be neatly trimmed.
Perfume, cologne, aftershave, lotions and strong deodorants are not allowed.
Makeup worn must be discrete and in moderation.
Nails must be short, clean and in good repair.
Nail polish must be neutral and not chipped.
Artificial fingernails including silk or acrylics are not allowed.
Wearing of jewelry must be minimal and no rough edged jewelry is allowed.
Dangling jewelry is not allowed.
More than two piercings per ear are not allowed.
All facial piercing/rings, including tongue piercing studs, are not allowed.
Any other body piercing must be covered at all times.
Any tattoo and other body adornment must not be visible.
Identification Badge
An identification badge is considered part of the uniform and must be worn at all times in the clinical internship. The badge must adhere to the identification policy mandated by each affiliate site. It is the responsibility of the student to obtain an appropriate identification badge from the affiliate site or Seattle University and wear it each day in internship.
