Part A
This picture below, I would choose as the main trailer picture. I think that it really shows meaning behind the
play. The empty bird cage standing by itself shows that the whole meaning behind the murder was because of
the bird. Then the background in red makes me think of blood which shows murder.
This next picture below shows a lady letting a bird free from its cage. When I saw this I thought of Minnie
Wright wanting to be let free from the cage she lived in. Minnie Wright couldn’t be free so letting the bird go is
also letting a piece of her go.
This third picture shows a farmhouse on a hill, showing the Wrights farmhouse sitting on a hill by itself. The
dark sky and dark field gives it a dark and gloomy feeling, like something is wrong.

The next picture is of a feather lying by itself. This picture makes me think of the bird and how its life was
taken just because it liked to sing. I also like how it is lying there peacefully not disturbing anything or anyone.
This last picture of three men praying shows the sorrow and sadness of the loss of John Wright. Even though
the characters don’t show much remorse there has to some for the death of the member of the community.

Part B
 Three Days Grace – Never too Late
When I heard this song and listen closely to the lyrics, Trifles came to mind. It was never too late for
John Wright and Minnie Wright to work things out, but there were too many problems. “Now and again
we try / To just stay alive”. “This world will never be / What I expected / And if I don't belong”, this
small verse seems to me something that Minnie would say to herself because John make her life
difficult.
 Carrie Underwood – So Small
This song I think has a great meaning and one that relates to Trifles. It talks about once you figure out
what life is about and what you have, everything else seems so small. You don’t realize what you have
till it gone or you loose it.
 Jessica Riddle – Even Angels Fall
This song also has a great meaning. When I heard it in I thought of Minnie Wright. She was an angel
that lived her life with her husband; no one would have taken her to be the sort of women to kill her
husband but “Even Angels Fall”. This fourth verse says a lot: “It's a secret that no one tells / One day
it's heaven, one day its hell; / And it's no fairytale, take it from me / That's the way it’s supposed to be”.
 Three Days Grace – On My Own
This song has more anger to it, but reading the lyrics makes me think of what John Wright would say to
his wife. The anger he has towards her and how he feels.

Part C
 George Henderson, the County Attorney – Russell Crowe
I thought Russell Crowe would be good for this role because he has played a great variety of roles over
his career and the country attorney fits he very well I think. He is an intense actor and whenever he is
one the screen he leaves a lasting impression. He is also very down to earth and doesn’t live the
Hollywood life.
 Henry Peters, Sheriff – Tommy Lees Jones
I thought Tommy Lee Jones was the perfect person to play this role. He seems to me like he would play
a good sheriff from his pervious roles, like Men in Black and US Marshall’s. He is overall a great actor
with a great personality and very down to earth too.
 Lewis Hale, A neighboring farmer - Liam Neeson

I choose Liam Neeson for the role because he looks like he could play a farmer very well. Growing up
in Ireland, there are fields and farms all over so it would come naturally to him. He has played some
great roles in the past and acted along side some great actors. He would fit this part great.
 Mrs. Peters, the Sheriff's wife – Nicole Kidman
The sheriff’s wife is said to be slightly wiry and lean, with a thin nervous face, and the first person that
came to my mind was Nicole Kidman. She is a great actress and can play great diverse roles. She is a
thin woman with a thin nervous looking face, which works great for this role. She keeps to herself, and
is shy and timid, but when it comes down to it she excels in her roles.
 Mrs. Hale – Jessica Biel
I thought Jessica Biel would be the better actress to play Mrs. Hale. Mrs. Hale is a more ordinary woman
with a comfortable look. When I read this about Mrs. Hale, Jessica Biel was one actress that came to
mind. Jessica Biel hasn’t been in TV and movies, but when she acts she plays a good convincing part.
 John Wright - Joaquin Phoenix
Joaquin would be a good choice for this role because he is a great actor and very skilled. Even this part
isn’t much he would still betray the character very well.
 Minnie Foster Wright –Kate Winslet
This would be a good role for Kate because she has played some very intense characters in the past. She
is also very good at displaying her emotions and bringing them across the screen to the viewers.
