10th March 2015 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CANNES, FRANCE Istanbul Chamber of Commerce presents Istanbul to the world at MIPIM For the first time the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) participated in the world's largest real estate fair MIPIM in Cannes, France and proudly introduced the city to visitors and investors from all over the world in a bid to highlight the Istanbul's financial potential and investment opportunities in the real estate sector. To make sure that ICOC's presence was noticed amongst the 2500 regular exhibitors, which included cities such as Paris, Berlin, London and Moscow, ICOC unveiled a spectacular 96sqm model of the city of Istanbul which was showcased in a 300 sqm pavilion. Created especially for the exhibition the 1/1000 scale "Istanbul model" was designed to showcase some of the city's monumental construction projects which are currently underway. These projects which have a total investment value of 30 billion dollars include Kanal Istanbul, Istanbul's Third Airport, The Third Bridge joining Asia and Europe, the Marmaray undersea rail tunnel, the Eurasia Tunnel and the Istanbul International Finance Centre. Places of historical and cultural interest were also featured in the reconstruction to represent Istanbul's 8500 year old heritage and further emphasise Istanbul's reputation as a crossroad of cultures. In keeping with the exhibition's 'Digital Revolution' theme, the Istanbul model, which was a huge talking point for investors, was technologically advanced and enriched with sound, motion and visual effects to demonstrate what 24 hours is like in the city. Augmented Reality and video mapping technology was also utilised to digitally bring Istanbul to life and give visitors the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of Istanbul for themselves. ICOC also presented an hourly 3D show which let potential global investors view Istanbul's new and future construction projects in an innovative and cutting edge way. With over 40 large construction projects currently underway in Istanbul, which have a cumulative total investment of over 30 billion dollars, it was vital that ICOC demonstrated the thriving nature of the real estate sector to both domestic and foreign funders to encourage future collaborations. ICOC firmly believe that their participation in the MIPIM exhibition was instrumental in doing this and that the revolutionary model was a creative and innovative way to present the city in a modern manner whilst also advertising the huge investment potential in Istanbul, which is the 16th largest economy in the world. In a speech presented by Mr Ibrahim Caglar, President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, which currently has over 375,000 members, 60,000 of them being real Tel: 00 90 (212) 455 61 20 e-mail: dogan.erdogan@ito.org.tr estate and construction companies, Istanbul's robust economic growth was celebrated.
