5% DAY APPLICATION Phone: 919-828-5805 Fax: 919-828-5825 ABOUT OUR GIVING PROGRAM Whole Foods Market’s Giving Program is dedicated to helping registered nonprofit organizations in our stores’ local communities that have limited budgets and big hearts. Our giving program supports organizations that address community issues, such as: hunger relief, environmental concerns, organic and sustainable agriculture, animal welfare and health/social services. Our focus is to support innovative groups that share in our Mission & Values, and strive to make the world a better place. Our Core Values include sustainability, community support, healthy eating education and a commitment to local growers. Typically, The Whole Foods Market Giving Program seeks out organizations with small budgets, low overhead and direct community impact. Not all requests can be honored, and those that are not submitted at least 90 days in advance, that are incomplete or that are to benefit individuals or for profit organizations will not be considered. The Whole Foods Market Giving Program does not provide monetary funding for politically affiliated groups. ABOUT 5% DAY Community 5% Days are held once per quarter in individual stores. Please note that each store has its own 5% Day schedule and application timeline. On event day, selected organizations receive 5% of the store’s total net sales for that day. The success of 5% Day depends largely on the participation and commitment of the designated non-profit organization. Designated organizations sign a contract with Whole Foods Market committing to a significant level of promotional support surrounding the 5% Day. 5% Day contracts base requirements often include promotion of 5% Day through press releases, social media, website, ads in community papers, flyers, in-store bag stuffers, public service announcements on local radio stations, and/or email communication with members and supporters. In addition, each group will work with the store Marketing Team Leader to outline a fun and unique promotion agreement specific to the nonprofit and its reach. Our stores also assist in promoting the event, but we have found the greatest success stories revolve around the level of commitment shown by the organization the 5% Day is meant to benefit. Organizations that are eligible for a 5% Day must meet our giving guidelines and be a registered 501 (c) 3 organization. Organizations can only be selected to participate in 5% Day once every two years, and priority will be given to applications that have not yet benefitted from 5% Day in our store. *Please note this INCLUDES participation in 5% Day at other local Whole Foods Markets, disclosure of which is required on the application. Organizations applications will be reviewed by WFM quarterly. Each quarter, 3-5 organizations will be added to our Team Member vote ballot. Once voted on, the organization that receives the most Team Member votes will be the beneficiary for the next 5% Day. The runner up will automatically go on the ballot again the following quarter. All other organizations will be filed and reevaluated each quarter. Whole Foods Market reserves the right to forego Team Member voting once per year, if store leadership decides to host 5% day in conjunction with multiple markets, for an organization with larger reach. Applications may be prioritized based on proximity of the organization, or organizations reach, to the store receiving the request. Stores reserve the right to defer application to another Whole Foods Market location if deemed appropriate. To apply for a 5% Day, please complete the following application.
