PEACE CORPS/PANAMA SEEKS A FULL-TIME PROGRAM SPECIALIST FOR SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE SYSTEMS Duties: Collaborates with government and NGO officials to identify and develop community and job placements for 15-20 sustainable agriculture systems professionals per year. Responsible for collaborating with the Project Manager in the timely research, preparation and review of project documentation, reports, and recruiting and evaluating materials. Provide ongoing personal, technical, administrative and programmatic support to 40 U.S. American adult volunteers through field visits, phone calls, emails and written communications. Design and maintain training and resource materials related to sustainable agriculture systems Work as part of a team to facilitate technical and intercultural training in formal and non-formal settings to U.S. American adult volunteers. Maintains and utilizes a variety of contacts in order to obtain project resources, managing all aspects of these transactions. Contribute to the organization, planning, direction and evaluation of overall program goals and objectives focused on sustainable agriculture systems. Responsible for accurately preparing documentation and maintaining and updating project files and database records. Travel 50% in interior visiting volunteers and community and agency counterparts, requiring an ability to drive 4x4 manual transmission on rough roads. Qualifications: University degree in agriculture, agribusiness or related technical field. Demonstrated experience working directly with agriculture focused organizations. Demonstrated experience in the field of rural community development; and/or four years teaching/training adults in community development or sustainable agriculture systems Experience in building partnerships with governmental and non-governmental officials is desirable. Experience in administrative responsibilities in an office setting. Experience working or studying in a cross-cultural environment. Knowledge about Panama’s history and familiarity with Panama’s ethnic groups and culture. Strong organizational skills and team player with excellent interpersonal communications skills, including the ability to lead, motivate, counsel and advise adults. Self-starter with demonstrated initiative and an ability to work individually and as part of a team. Must be fluent in Spanish and English languages (oral and written). Computer literate. Valid driver’s license; ability to drive 4x4, manual transmission. Ability to travel, spending 50% of time working in the “interior”/ rural areas sometimes under harsh conditions.
