Release 30th September 2014 at 14:15 Property investment company Certeum started operations Certeum Oy, specialised in owning, leasing and developing logistics and industrial properties, has started operations today, the 30th of September 2014. The new company provides versatile real estate solutions to the management of goods flow in the biggest cities in Finland. Property investment company Certeum Oy has bought 12 logistics and industrial properties from Sponda Plc and 22 logistics and production properties from Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company as well as th Sponda Fund I Ky, Sponda Fund II Ky and Sponda Fund III Ky from the funds’ unitholders on the 30 of September 2014 according to the letter of intent signed in April. The value of these transactions is 917 million euros in total. As a property investor, Certeum specialises in owning, leasing and developing logistics and industrial properties. The company has about 400 retail and industrial companies as its clients at the moment. Almost one billion euros in property assets The 124 logistics and industrial properties owned by Certeum are mainly located in the biggest cities in Finland. The value of the company’s property assets is 917 million euros; leasable area is approximately 1.3 million square metres. Certeum’s owners are Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company (about 39%), Sponda Plc (about 38%), The State Pension Fund of Finland (about 10%) and other domestic investors (about 13% in total). According to Certeum’s CEO Jorma Lehtonen, property investments provide a good risk/return ratio in the current investment environment. “A company specialising in logistics and industrial properties has been lacking on the Finnish market, which investors find attractive. Certeum, with its property assets of almost a billion euros, will be one of the largest property investment companies in Finland,” says Lehtonen. Certeum has a strong customer orientation and it tailors each facility to support the client’s business needs. “As an active owner, we develop our properties continuously and utilise our current building rights. Moreover, we follow closely the development of the property market and upgrade our property portfolio as needed through new investments and realisations,” says Lehtonen.
