Good Counsel Falcons Good Counsel Soccer Program Expectations & Guidelines Goals for the Program **The main goal of the Varsity team is to win the WCAC Championship** The secondary goal, but equally as important, is to place as many Good Counsel players in to college soccer programs. For the JV and Freshmen teams, the main goal is to develop the players so that they can advance to the next level, with the goal that they will be able to contribute at the Varsity level. Playing Time Playing time at both the Varsity and JV level is based upon merit, and no amount of playing time is guaranteed. This is not negotiable. If a player has concerns about their playing time, THEY should talk to the coach. Emails from parents questioning about playing time, coaching decisions, or team placement will not be answered. Practices Practices will be held every weekday, unless there is a game, and on most Saturdays (for the Varsity team). A detailed calendar will be posted after the tryout process is over and after the turf availability is determined. Players can expect practices to contain general skill-work/technique, position specific training, tactical training (both on the field and in the classroom), and fitness/strength. Games The game schedule will be posted once it is finalized. All players must ride the team bus to every away game. If 2 teams are playing at the same location, it is expected that all players stay to support the other team. This is a 3 team program. Players will only be excused for school-work or family obligations. If a player is to leave an away game with a parent, THE PARENT must confirm this with their respective coach. A new protocol has been put in place this year to ensure that we have accurate information as to the time and location of every away game. Our parent “communicator” will call both Good Counsel and our opponent on game days to ensure that any changes to the schedule are communicated as quickly and effectively as possible. Player Conduct & Behavior All members of the team are held to a standard of behavior both in school and on the field. Players must understand that they will be held accountable for their actions on the field just as they are in the classroom. GC students have online access to their current grades, through the GC “Ed-line” program. Students have the ability to print a copy of their grade reports from every class on one sheet. Each week a current copy of their grade report must be printed out and initialed/signed by each of their teachers and submitted to their respective coach. Parent Expectations To help the program run smoothly, we ask that the parents attempt to make themselves available to help out with the operations of the team. Please contact Jude Lozupone if you would like to get involved: lozupone2000@yahoo.com GC parents on the sideline are there to support your son and the team. Cheering and positive comments are always welcome, however NO coaching from the sidelines, or arguments with members of the opposition will be tolerated. The players are not the only ones representing GC. Communication Parent questions regarding playing time, position, or team selection will not be entertained. If a player has a question in regards to these matters they may speak to their respective coach, with whom a solution will be discussed. All members of the GC soccer program are encouraged to frequently check the GC-Men’s Soccer webpage: www.gcmenssoccer.org - This is our primary means of communication.
