The Regional Program for Women’s & Children’s Health SECOND ANNUAL PEDIATRIC ENDOCRINOLOGY IN THE PRIMARY CARE SETTING CONFERENCE FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2003 At the end of this course the participant will be able to: Identify new indications for use of human growth hormone in pediatric patients. Discuss hypoglycemia in children and approaches to treatment. Discuss the benefits of intensive diabetes management in children. Discuss the principles of basal/bolus regimens. Discuss various types of new technology for use by children with diabetes. Identify how common medications interact with various endocrine diseases. Identify school modifications necessary for the child with endocrine disorders including diabetes and other endocrinopathies such as pan hypopituitaryism and adrenal insufficiency and thyroid disease. Target audience: Community hospital based physicians and nurses. Accreditation: Physicians: The Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center designates this educational activity for a maximum of 4.5 Category 1 credits towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
