Department of Pediatrics The Department of Pediatrics is a multifaceted Department with well developed subspecialties of Neonatology, Genetics, Gastroenterology & Hepatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrinology, Oncology, Infectious Diseases and Rheumatology and Pulmonology. There are 56 Pediatric beds, 6-bedded Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 10 bedded Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 4 intermediate neonatal care beds and 30 rooming-in beds. The Department runs ambulatory General Pediatric OPD services daily and more than 10 specialty clinics in the afternoons. During 2003-04, 62,882 children were seen in the outpatient department, 18,395 children were seen in the specialty clinics and 5,861 children were admitted to the in-patient service. The Institute caters to the registration and confinement of high risk pregnancies and every year around 2200 deliveries are conducted.
