What to do on the Pediatric Endocrinology Rotation when not in clinic
1. See consults as they occur
2. Residents will be given access to an online learning environment
which uses the free and open source software Moodle. This
computer-based endocrinology training is an opportunity for selfdirected and interactive learning using a combination of case-based
training and selected topic-related review articles
3. Diabetes related activities
a. Read “A first book of understanding diabetes”. Dr Hanna
has a copy for you to borrow. It is your responsibility to
return it to her.
b. Become diabetic for a day doing home glucose monitoring,
record keeping, carb counting, “saline” injections
4. Read from reading list
5. Didactic sessions with pediatric endocrine faculty and fellows
6. Work on the problem set (password Hanna) and discuss cases
Pediatric Endocrinology Clinics operate Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday
Special arrangements may be possible should you have a particular interest
in attending related clinics
1. metabolism (Monday, Tuesday)
2. lifestyles clinic (2nd , 4th Wednesday of the month)
3. neuro-oncology /endocrine multidisciplinary clinic (Wednesday
afternoon second Wednesday of the month with Dr Madison).
