Use pennies to “buy” drinks and snacks. Class “Jumble sale” – Sort jumble. Make price labels for “jumble”. Spend pennies at “jumble sale”. Shopping trips to local shops. SHAPE, SPACE AND MEASURE Make different shapes of play dough “biscuits” Sort biscuits according to shape. Make patterns using seeds, different pasta shapes etc. HANDLING DATA Make graphs of favourite foods, e.g. favourite breakfast ce5real. MATHS GAMES Number blocks – child chooses number card. Reads number and builds tower with that number of blocks. Child with biggest tower is winner Money Bug – to practice recognising coins. Throw money dice and find coin to correspond with value on dice. Place coin on top of same coin on “money bug” sheet. Filling up purses – to experience exchanging 1p coins for 5p coin. Pick a number card (0-5) and collect corresponding number of 1p coins. When five 1p coins collected, exchange for 5p coin and put into puse. I.T. – “Millie’s maths”. – Database.
