We are looking to appoint an inspirational and dynamic leader to join the Senior Leadership
Team of this thriving and successful 11-18 special school. The successful applicant will join
the school at an exciting stage in its development. This is a real opportunity to make a
significant contribution to the future direction and success of our happy and aspirational
school. The post arises as the current post holder retires.
The successful candidate will ideally be aspiring for Headship. If you think you have the
vision, drive and leadership skills to help take Manor High School to the next level we would

The school is situated in, and serves the community of Trafford. We are close to Manchester
and play an active part in the Greater Manchester community of special schools. We cater for
pupils with moderate learning difficulties, behavioural, social and emotional difficulties and
also for pupils with autism spectrum conditions. All have a statement of special educational
needs. We are proud of our community partnerships, and are very much a school that
prepares young people for the future. We are an innovative and forward thinking school, and
we are consistently seeking ways to improve, drive up standards and to provide the best
possible education and pastoral care for our young people.
The school was inspected by OFSTED in January 2011. OFTSED recognised the excellent
work of the school in providing a high quality education for our learners. As the report
comments Manor High School is a good school because:
 The outstanding care, guidance and support of students are prevalent throughout all
years and contribute greatly to their good achievement and outstanding learning and
progress.
 Teaching, assessment and the curriculum are consistently good with each having
some outstanding features in the main school.
 There is a strong ethos of commitment and dedication throughout the school.

The successful candidate will ideally:
 have experience of curriculum development
 have experience of using data and assessment for raising standards and
achievement
 have a vision for using ICT to raise standards and achievements
 have experience of working with young people with SEN
We are a nurturing school where we take account of individual and special needs. In addition
to academic progress there is a strong focus on developing independence skills to give our
learners the best opportunities to make a success of their lives. There is also a wide ranging
enrichment programme which all pupils are encouraged to participate in, including after
school and holiday clubs, sporting teams, residentials and the Duke of Edinburgh Award
scheme.
