Role: Head of Development
Reporting to: Communications and
Development Director
Bristol Old Vic was built in 1766 and is the UK’s old continuously working theatre.
With the appointment of Tom Morris as Artistic Director and Emma Stenning as
Executive Director in 2009, the theatre has re-committed itself to the production of
original new work, the support of artists from the city and region and the delivery of an
exciting programme of Outreach. From Sian Phillips to Shlomo, from Swallows and
Amazons to Ferment, Bristol Old Vic is an organisation dedicated to engaging the city of
Bristol in the potential of live theatre.
In March 2011, we embarked on a major capital redevelopment programme which will
transform our Georgian Theatre, backstage areas and foyer spaces. Currently the main
theatre and backstage are undergoing redevelopment and will reopen in Easter 2012.
The next phase will commence in 2013 and the newly renovated front of house will open
in 2016. Bristol Old Vic is open throughout the whole period, programming work in its
own spaces and across the city. This includes an outdoor production of Treasure Island
in King Street in a purpose built theatre and our Christmas Show, Coram Boy, which is
being performed at Colston Hall.
