Year Two Weekly Diary 5th June 2015 Dear Parents. Maths We reminded ourselves how to add and subtract 2 and 3 digit numbers by drawing our own number line and adding the hundreds, tens and units separately. Q- Which side of your number line should you start your subtraction on? Why? Q- Which side of your number line should you start your addition on? Why? Learning Journey – D&T We had an email off Marina asking us to research fruits and we had a go at designing, making, eating and evaluating our fruit kebabs. Q- What was good about your fruit kebab? Q- What would you do better next time? We learnt how to wash our hands properly for food preparation and we also learnt how to use the Bridge Cut to cut fruit carefully. First Aid We learnt about simple first aid and how to put on a bandage. Q- What do you have to remember when putting on a bandage? Literacy We have been learning about play scripts and have used the features to write both group and individual play scripts about the Night Pirates. Q- What are the important features of a play script? Vocabulary for next week Survival PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAILS AS THERE IS AN IMPORTANT LETTER REGARDING TUESDAY 9TH JUNE FOR 2H AND WEDNESDAY 10TH JUNE FOR 2F. 12th June is Funky Hair day at school and children are asked to bring a jar filled with something i.e. sweets, hair bobbles, marbles etc as a donation for a stall at our Summer Fayre on the 26th June at 3.30pm to 6pm. We can’t wait to see all your wild creations! Junk needed! On Wednesday 17th June Year 2 have a junk model sharing workshop which is run by an outside agency. We would love for you to come and join us as ideally each child would benefit from having an adult to support them. There will be a brief introduction for the children between 9am and 9.30am of Anthony’s background and what he does then 2H is in the morning 9.30am – 11.30am and 2F is in the afternoon 1.20pm – 3.20pm. Please could you start saving your junk for then but please don’t bring it in until Monday 15 th June as we have limited space to store it. Thank you.
