Chabot College Course Outline for Physical Education 12 TENNIS SKILLS PROFICIENCY LAB September 1993 Removed Fall 2006 Course Description: PHED 12 – Tennis Skills Proficiency Lab (May be repeated 3 times) 3 units Basic concepts of organization and instruction of tennis on the recreational level. Designed to increase proficiency in the basic skills of tennis and enable the demonstration of those skills to others. Prerequisite: Intermediate skill level. 1 hour lecture, 3 hours laboratory. Expected Outcomes for Students: Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to: 1. increase level of tennis skills; 2. develop ability to recognize common stroke errors; 3. develop an appreciation and knowledge of the game of tennis; 4. understand pedagogical techniques of tennis.
