Application for permission for
campus collection
Thank you for expressing your interest in fundraising, the Raise and Give (RAG) Society at the Students’ Union
(SU) are committed to helping you to achieve your fundraising goals. Please read this form carefully, as there are
some rules in place each fundraiser and fundraising group need to follow. You will also be able to request support
from RAG- that could be anything from helping you to generate fundraising ideas, to using their collection
buckets, through getting a helping hand on the day of your event.
Key facts:
 We will book space and necessary equipment such as chairs, tables etc. for you.
 You will be asked to hand in collected funds to the SU where you will be issued with an official receipt of
your fundraising total and we will transfer the money to your chosen charity on your behalf. This is in line
with agreement between the SU and the University.
 All fundraisers must be current students or representatives of the charity you are raising money for.
Charitable collections on the University Campus
All collections involving students of the University must come under the umbrella of the Students’ Union. It is an
SU responsibility to vouch for the legitimacy of the organisations themselves. The Students’ Union is responsible
for authorizing internal collections within the Students’ Union floor. It is the responsibility of the Students’ Union
to ensure that no heavy canvassing takes place in the immediate entry / exit points of the building. If you wish to
organise collection outside the SU floor you must submit the form at least 14 working days before the event is
due to take place.
For any student wishing to hold a campus collection, the following procedure must be followed:

10 working days prior to the requested date of collection.

written consent of the Director of Estates and Facilities or his nominee. Before any consent is given the
organiser must submit this completed form with all volunteers listed.
3. If permissions are granted, details will specify areas where the collections may take place.
4. The named organiser shall make sure that all collection boxes are numbered and securely closed and
sealed to prevent them being opened without the seal being broken. The organiser shall keep a signed list
of each volunteer that has each collection box.
5. Only official numbered and labeled collection boxes must be used for collections.
6. The named organiser shall be responsible for ensuring that each collector has a badge or label, identifying
them as part of the organised collection.
