Application for permission for campus collection Thank you for expressing your interest in fundraising, the Raise and Give (RAG) Society at the Students’ Union (SU) are committed to helping you to achieve your fundraising goals. Please read this form carefully, as there are some rules in place each fundraiser and fundraising group need to follow. You will also be able to request support from RAG- that could be anything from helping you to generate fundraising ideas, to using their collection buckets, through getting a helping hand on the day of your event. Key facts: We will book space and necessary equipment such as chairs, tables etc. for you. You will be asked to hand in collected funds to the SU where you will be issued with an official receipt of your fundraising total and we will transfer the money to your chosen charity on your behalf. This is in line with agreement between the SU and the University. All fundraisers must be current students or representatives of the charity you are raising money for. Charitable collections on the University Campus All collections involving students of the University must come under the umbrella of the Students’ Union. It is an SU responsibility to vouch for the legitimacy of the organisations themselves.The Students’ Union is responsible for authorizing internal collections within the Students’ Union floor. It is the responsibility of the Students’ Union to ensure that no heavy canvassing takes place in the immediate entry / exit points of the building. If you wish to organise collection outside the SU floor you must submit the form at least 14 working days before the event is due to take place. For any student wishing to hold a campus collection, the following procedure must be followed: 1. A request to hold any such collection must be made to the Students’ Union. This request shall be received 10 working days prior to the requested date of collection. 2. No charity or similar collections must take place on University or associated properties without the written consent of the Director of Estates and Facilities or his nominee. Before any consent is given the organiser must submit this completed form with all volunteers listed. 3. If permissions are granted, details will specify areas where the collections may take place. 4. The named organiser shall make sure that all collection boxes are numbered and securely closed and sealed to prevent them being opened without the seal being broken. The organiser shall keep a signed list of each volunteer that has each collection box. 5. Only official numbered and labeled collection boxes must be used for collections. 6. The named organiser shall be responsible for ensuring that each collector has a badge or label, identifying them as part of the organised collection. 7. Collection boxes shall only be opened in the presence of the organiser. 8. At the end of the collection a charity collections receipt form must be completed and submitted to the Director of Estates and Facilities within 28 days.
