Community and Challenge Event Volunteers
Role description
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers to join our busy Development
Department, within the Challenge and Community events Team. The fundraising Challenge
and Community events team are looking for volunteers to help with their busy schedule of
events as well as ad hoc projects throughout the next year. This is a fantastic opportunity for
anyone interested in event fundraising.
The Challenge and Community team deliver a variety of fun and exciting events from 10k
runs, abseils, comedy nights and GALAs. All we ask if that you can commit to at least three
of our events per year. If you think this is something for you then please do get in touch.
Core activities:
 Challenge Event Support
We run challenge events throughout the year. We are looking to build a team of volunteers
who can come and help us with these events. Roles at these events will range from helping
with registration and bag drops, crowd marshalling, manning cheer points and helping with
set up/pack down. It’s great fun to come along to our challenge events and see hundreds of
people taking part in something together raising funds for ZSL.
EXPECTATION: We’d love you to be able to commit to at least 3 of our challenge
events throughout the year
 Office Support
As we continue to grow the challenge and events programme, we need some support with
administrative duties.
Helping out the team with research, sending out event
communications to our supporters, helping us put together community fundraising packs and
ad hoc admin tasks and smaller projects.
EXPECTATION: Ongoing – maybe giving up half a day each week initially, perhaps
growing to a full day during busy periods
 Charity Collections
Our team runs a number of charity collections around London. The small change in these
tins actually really adds up when emptied and counted. We are looking for someone to help
and engage with the public at these offsite collections.
EXPECTATION: Ongoing – a commitment of 2 collection dates per year
Attendance
We are looking for commitment to three of our fundraising events per year. In addition to
this there will be an opportunity to assist with either administrative duties and or offsite
charity collections.

Friendly, outgoing people who are confident, fun and interested in fundraising events
People who are happy to work with the public
An interest in animals and conservation
A willingness to learn, follow instructions and keep informed
A good degree of fitness as you will need to be on your feet for a lot of the time during our
events. Activities are mostly standing up and a majority of our events are out of doors in all
weathers
