adult psychiatrists are still in the process of being finalised during this transitional
period. There is an intensive care unit in the new build in Balcary Ward. The

psychiatrist who will carry out any Mental Health Act work.
The consultant will have access to support from the addictions service with its own
specialist psychiatrists and a dual diagnosis nursing service attached to the addiction
unit. There is access to a rehabilitation service offering both in-patient beds and outpatient and community support and there will be access to a psychiatric day hospital

of one of the consultants with rehabilitation and forensic responsibilities. There is a
developing forensic service which will offer support to the Community Mental Health
Teams.

consultant, which offers intensive day treatment to seriously ill eating disordered
patients and also provides support through the Community Mental Health Team to
each sector team.

providing assessment and support in the management of this patient group for
CMHTs and wards.
It is expected that the postholder will work with the Community Mental Health Team,
who are the first port of call for all referrals, to provide effective screening and outpatient services. It would also be expected that the postholder will work with
colleagues to provide an increasingly community based service and an increasingly
multi-disciplinary provision of such a service.
DUTIES OF THE POST
The postholder will be expected to spend the vast majority of their time providing
direct clinical care and the support for direct clinical care for the patients in their
sector in the various sites mentioned above. One session is available for the

experience and depending on demands of the service.

particular support groups for the consultant staff to meet appraisal and revalidation
issues.
