We take a 15 minute trip out to Wood Island and debark from Light Runner on the boatramp Vines Landing Wood Island boatramp Tour Hosts welcome visitors to the island and relate to them the history of the lighthouse giving guests the feel of what it would be like to be a lighthouse keeper over the last 200 years of operation. Photos are used and the lighthouse itself is a small museum with displays. We walk on a wooden boardwalk ½ mile to the lighthouse. It is safe but irregular and quite high in places (no handrails). ToursTours Your guide will unlock the lighthouse so you can go into the dwelling house. There are lots of photos and displays telling about life on the island. You can ascend the tower in small groups with a tower host, learn about how a lighthouse works and enjoy a beautiful view. You can also walk all around the grounds and to the oil house. On your 2015 tour – you will see the newly restored porch on the Keeper’s house. We gather with the gulls on the platform in front of the house. View from our Webcam before our 2012 restoration.
