Existing Salt Interception Schemes are operated in the optimum manner with effective maintenance, monitoring and operating programs implemented to maximise scheme availability and enable maximum operational efficiency of assets. Responsible for ensuring that the River Murray’s water resources are maintained and enhanced through the efficient operational management of Salt Interception Schemes under SA Water’s control on behalf of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority. Contribute to strategic salinity management within the MurrayDarling Basin through involvement with other agencies in the formulation and implementation of strategies and institutional arrangements. Continuous innovation and focus on improvement of operations and maintenance. New interception schemes are constructed using best available knowledge. Salt Interception Schemes are an integral part of the management of the River Murray. The MDBA will recognise SA Water as being an efficient and effective manager of Salt Interception Schemes. -1- POSITION DESCRIPTION JOB OUTLINE OBJECTIVES Manage and ensure the efficient operation, maintenance and monitoring of the River Murray Salt Interception Schemes Provide engineering and technical support to the SIS group Provision of sound people management associated with leading and managing a team of employees and periodic contractors Develop, review and effectively manage annual budgets for the operation and maintenance of salt interception schemes Oversee the preparation and implementation of effective preventative maintenance programs Ensure operations and maintenance manuals are prepared and updated and operators are appropriately trained. Undertake periodic performance reviews of schemes and implement appropriate enhancements Establish and maintain a comprehensive data base of scheme performance data Ensure operational audits and risk assessments are carried out and clear emergency communication and action protocols are established Ensure environmental standards and regulations are met in relation to the operation of the Schemes Represent South Australia on Murray-Darling Basin Authority salinity technical committees Ensure compliance with OHS&W regulations and environmental policies Employee..................................................................Manager .................................................................
