Canterbury Tales Project
Create your own book of “Canterbury Tales.”
Directions: Write and put together your own version of The Canterbury Tales. You must consider
a destination for your pilgrims, a list of pilgrims on the journey, why they are traveling, why they
are telling stories, and morals the reader will learn from the tales.
Requirements: Does not have to be in poetic form, but will receive extra credit if it is.
 Title Page
 A Prologue explaining who is traveling, where, why, and why they are telling stories.
Must include at least 14 modern pilgrims with a brief description.
 Two “tales” from two of your 14 pilgrims. Must be moral tales; that is, teach your reader
a lesson. (Don’t forget a prologue for each tale)
 Conclusion to end your pilgrims’ journey and their story-telling.
Title Page:
Create an attention drawing front cover for your book. Include title and your name.
Prologue:
Define where they are traveling, how, and why. Set your story in modern times. Define and
describe at least 14 modern pilgrims. Explain why they are telling stories.
Tales:
Your stories need to include a prologue to set up the story. The actual story must be at least five
paragraphs, including some sort of moral. Make sure your tales have a clear beginning, middle,
and end.
Conclusion:
Finish your story by ending their journey; that is, take your book farther than Chaucer could.
Each section should appear on a separate page.
Use pictures, fonts, and color to make your book fun and entertaining.
Must be done on computer paper, colored or white.
No regular pencils, must use colored pencils or ink. Must type.
May work with one other person.
Turn this sheet in with your book.
