Honors Program Ambassadors (HPA’s)
Honors Program Ambassadors (HPA’s) are the official student representatives of the Baruch
College Honors Program (BCHP). As such, HPA’s are a select group of volunteers who assist in
the process of admitting students into the BCHP by sharing their experiences as Honors
students. HPA’s are characterized by their strong interpersonal and communication skills,
excellent academic records, and intimate knowledge of student life and academics at Baruch
College.
Who should apply?
 Macaulay and Baruch Scholars who have sophomore, junior and senior standing
(except for January 2016 graduates) and who are in “good standing” (i.e. not on
“Honors Probation”) in the Honors Program;
 Students involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities at Baruch College;
 Students who possess excellent communication skills and who have experience speaking
in public or are seeking to improve these skills.
HPA’s will receive the following benefits and opportunities:
 The satisfaction of helping prospective students make the crucial decision to attend the
college that best fits their needs and interests;
 Receive credit towards the completion of the Baruch College Honors Program
community service requirement;
 Share your college experience with prospective students and their families;
 Work closely with Honors Program and Baruch Admissions staff;
 Enhance your communication and presentation skills;
 Gain additional leadership skills;
 Network with Baruch College staff and learn more about Baruch and the Macaulay
Honors College;
 Meet and learn from your peers;
 Most importantly, HPA’s will be rewarded knowing they have helped promote the
BCHP at Baruch and in the larger community.
What are the commitment requirements?
 A minimum of fifteen hours during the entire academic year (this will fulfill your honors
program community service requirement for the academic year);
 Attend a day-long training workshop: Friday, October 2nd
 Conduct tours for prospective students and their families;
 Participate in panel discussions for events sponsored by the Baruch College Admissions
Office, the Macaulay Honors College and the Baruch College Honors Program (events
include Open Houses, campus tours, as well as Information Panels);
 Conduct follow-up communications (phone and/or email) with prospective students as
needed;
 Submit schedule of availability to the Honors Program Office staff;
 Participate in supplemental trainings and other recruitment initiatives;
 Provide feedback and suggestions on how to improve the Ambassadors Program.
