1. Read pages 19-40
2. Identify at least 5 examples from the literary terms list. List the page,
the term and then write the entire quote.:
* 19 = metaphor…”hovering”
* 21 = sarcastic hyperbole… “grandmothers”
* 23 = pun… “state”
* 25 = simile and hyperbole…last paragraph
* 32 = hyperbole
3. Write a plot summary for Chapter 2.
4. Identify a theme and provide a quote, include the page, that
exemplifies your chosen theme.
Helpful hint***There are what we call “parallel plots” working in chapter 2. Both Nadia
and the turtles are experiencing similar needs for traveling. They are parallel
because they are similar and happening at the same time but in two different
areas of the plot. The theme emerges because the plots demonstrate how
both Nadia and the turtles needed some help to make their movements
successful. They both needed “a lift”.
