Code of Conduct
- Sample from Aquatic Sports
The following is an example of the code of conduct used for LSV representative teams. It is
structured to cover the athletes; however there are also slight variations of this document to
cater for coaches, managers and chaperones. Use this document as a guide when putting
together your club’s code of conduct agreement.
As both a representative for Victoria in Life Saving competition and a member of Life Saving
Victoria (LSV), I agree to abide by the following terms and conditions in relation to
involvement (directly and indirectly) in Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA), Royal Life Saving
Society of Australia (RLSSA) and Life Saving Victorian competitions and activities. I also
understand and agree that this agreement must be signed by me before any departure from
the state and that this code of conduct shall apply for the duration of the competition or tour
including all related travel arrangements.
OBLIGATIONS:
1.
I acknowledge that LSV is the body recognised by SLSA and RLSSA as responsible for
the accreditation and participation of representatives from LSV in Australian Life Saving
competition, and accordingly agree that this agreement shall have precedence over
any agreement I may have with, or interactions I may receive from my Life Saving club,
any sponsor of my club, or any employer, manager, agent, consultant, adviser, coach
or supplier of mine.
2.
I undertake and agree:
2.1. To adhere to reasonable control, management and directions given by my team
manager.
2.2. To conduct myself in an appropriate manner so as not to bring myself, my team
or Life Saving Victoria into disrepute.
2.3. To understand that inappropriate behaviour means swearing, smoking or
intoxication whenever representing LSV and particularly whilst at official events or
when wearing official uniform.
2.4. That harassment of coaches, officials, volunteers and spectators will not be
tolerated.
2.5. It is expected that team members will act as a role model for Life Saving and
encourage other team members to follow suit.
2.6. To respect the officials' decisions and comply with the rules of competition.
2.7. To understand smoking and the use of illegal drugs are banned by all team
members whilst on tour.
2.8. To understand consumption of alcohol by team members over 18 years of age
will be left to the discretion of the coach and team manager.
2.9. To understand no U18 team member will be permitted to consume alcohol in any
form whilst on tour.
2.10. To understand all under 18 competitors must be supervised at all times by a
responsible person over 18 years of age and that team members over 18 years
may be asked to assist with this task.
2.11. To comply with the notion of "sportsmanship" and respecting your opponent's
ability is expected from all team members during competition.
2.12. To ensure that all forms of abuse and harassment (including verbal, physical,
racial and sexual) does not occur and take appropriate action if it does (please
refer to the complaints Process document).
2.13. To ensure all facilities and equipment are to be used for their proper purposes
and should be used with care.
2.14. To ensure all competitors will have the opportunity to compete regardless of
gender, race, age, religion or background. Discrimination of any kind will not be
tolerated.
2.15. To disclose forthwith to the manager any illness/injury that may prejudice my
proper participation in the competition.
2.16. To withdraw form the team forthwith if so directed by the manager, if in his/her
opinion and after consultation with medical officer/s, I am unable to perform in the
competition to the best of my ability due to illness/injury.
3.
I acknowledge that my membership of the team is conditional upon my being eligible to
compete under the rules and regulations of my club, LSV, SLSA, RLSSA and, I declare
that I am so eligible.
4.
I understand that as a competitor in the competition I am participating in a Life Saving
competition which is of both national and historical significance and agree:
4.1. To be filmed, televised, photographed and otherwise recorded during the
competition under the conditions and for the purposes now or hereafter
authorised by LSV.
4.2. To not act as a press attaché, journalist, or perform any of the functions of the
media, without the expressed permission of LSV.
4.3. I agree to accept personal liability including full financial responsibility for any
damages or losses caused through my actions which constitute a breach of the
conditions detailed in this document.
DECLARATION:
In consideration of LSV selecting me as part of the team, I hereby agree to accept
membership of the team.
In relation to my inclusion in the team I hereby:


