ATHLETIC DIRECTOR/STUDENT APPLICANT:
The Cranford Soccer Club is pleased to announce a SCHOLARSHIP AWARD
For a graduating male and female student/soccer player. The applicant must be a resident
of Cranford and have plans to continue their education at a post-secondary, accredited
institution of higher learning.
Athletic Directors are asked to make the applications available to student/athletes.
Completed applications must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2012. An information
sheet is attached.
If any questions exist, counselors or student/athletes should be free to contact any member
of the Scholarship Committee.

(A)
SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT
A maximum of two (2) scholarships will be awarded in any year; one $1,000 award
for a male player and one $1,000 for a female player. In the event that no player
male or female is selected; the award will not be made in that year.

ELIGIBILITY


An applicant must have played a minimum of ten seasons for the Cranford Soccer Club.
(fall and spring count as two seasons of play).

An applicant must have been a member of a high school soccer varsity team.

An applicant must submit a complete application by April 1st of the year graduating
High School.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Obtain an application form from a high school guidance counselor, the president of the
Cranford Soccer Club, or a member of the scholarship committee of the Cranford Soccer
Club or our website cranfordsoccer.net

Fill out the application form.

Attach a typed, double-spaced essay describing:
(1) how the Cranford Soccer Club enhanced your knowledge and performance
of the game of soccer,
(2) what you have given back to the sport, and
(3) your future soccer plans or goals.
The essay should be a minimum of two hundred and fifty words.

Submit a letter of reference supporting your application to receive the scholarship.
A letter from a soccer coach you have played for would be preferred. This letter must be
attached to the application in a sealed envelope and signed by the coach.

HOW THE SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE AWARDED

The winner of the scholarship will be announced at your High School by the end of the
School year in June or at your high school awards ceremony.

The cash award will be contingent upon your successful completion of a semester of college
while maintaining scholastic standing at the school.
It is the responsibility of the person awarded the scholarship to contact a committee member
with proof of the above, please send proof to above hank01@verizon.net
Note: The names and phone numbers of the committee members will be included in the award.


The Cranford Soccer Club Scholarship Committee will evaluate the candidates for the
scholarships on criteria such as:
High School Soccer career
Club Soccer career
Public Recognition
Soccer service to the community, such as:
Coaching
Refereeing
One-on-One Instruction
Essay
Letter of Reference

