Dear Youens Families,
We hope your summer was enjoyable! The 2009-10 school year will bring opportunities for you to participate in
many activities at Youens. The success of our students is top priority, so we invite you to register as a volunteer, mentor a
student, join the PTO, support our fundraisers, attend school events and, most importantly, work at home with your child
and communicate with his or her teacher. Working together will assure high achievement and a positive relationship in
our learning community. Please contact us for any ideas you have or ways we can better meet your needs.
The entire Youens staff looks forward to working with you this school year!
Sincerely,
Nancy Trent

TRANSPORTATION REMINDERS
The CAR RIDER drop off and pickup area is in the BACK
of the school. For your child’s safety, please keep your
child in the car with you until your car reaches the drop off curb. Parents may NOT park in the red curb zones of the
parking lots at any time. Visitor parking spaces are located in the front and back parking lots. A crossing guard is located
on High Star. Please do NOT allow students to cross the street alone.
MESSAGE FROM THE NURSE
Greetings from the Youens clinic! Welcome to all new and returning families. As your school nurse, I enjoy the very
special privilege of caring for your child. Please take a few minutes from your busy day to note some very important
information that will help me provide the best care and service to your family: Medication: I am happy to assist students
who need medications at school, and request that all medications be brought to school by a parent, guardian or designated
adult--not a child for reasons of safety. Medications, both prescription and over-the-counter, will require written consent
and dosage instructions by a parent or guardian,
If the medication is to be given more than 10 days, a written authorization from the doctor will also be required. To
ensure optimum care, it is important to update us continually with new phone numbers, changes in your child’s health,
new medications, or anything else that impacts his or her well-being at school.
